In this intensive weekend of learning Stephanie will offer her signature combination of philosophy and technique for teachers who have a minimum of 200 hour certification. This is designed for any teacher who is hungry for continuing education but may not have the ability to commit to a longer training. As a longtime teacher trainer and mentor Stephanie has seen a deep need for short-form intensives where teachers can dip deeply into studentship, hone new skills, refresh and update what they already know and be in community with each other. This intensive will be rigorous yet supportive and nurturing.
Atma Bhoda: This beautiful Vedantic text identifies the source of our suffering and then offers the promise of fulfillment. Stephanie will expound on the teachings in this text and how we can integrate these concepts that are timeless and sophisticated into our teaching and our lives. This content will require home study alongside in-person lecture / discussion.
Sequencing: Learn to sequence for more advanced poses in public classes, workshops, and with private clients. Learn how to identify the subtler aspects of the advanced poses and how to introduce and skillfully teach these nuances to the student in a way that helps them not only execute the pose but also understand the biomechanics and energetics of the shape. We will focus on sequencing for backbends as well as advanced arm balances.
Advanced Assists: This will be an opportunity to touch up and refine your go-to assists that you use in public classes as well as learn how to offer hands on assists for some of the more advanced poses. You will have a chance to safely and skillfully assist each other using both props and no props to support the assists. Many of the advanced poses require support when the student is learning and often teachers can feel intimidated or not know where to begin- this weekend we will spend time understanding the why and how of getting into these assists. As teachers you will develop confidence in helping the students in your classes that are ready to attempt some of the more difficult asana.
